The Davis Medical Research Building is a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility for AIDS, infectious diseases, diabetes, cancer and heart disease. The building houses seven medical research floors and two ancillary mechanical support function floors.
The Cedars-Sinai Board of Directors selected The JCM Group to assess the feasibility of this project and to develop an overall implementation plan. The program involved an ambitious scope of work, limited budget, complicated site access and utility relocation issues, and the integration of sophisticated laboratory equipment. As part of its overall project and construction management services, The JCM Group's value engineering and cost management efforts resulted in a savings of nearly $4 million from the original design estimate. The construction schedule was also reduced 5 months by early contracting of site utility relocations and structural steel framing.
