Situated on 2 acres, the Barclay Theater is a state-of-the-art, 750-seat, multi-use performing arts facility. The theater, built to accommodate drama, dance and music productions, incorporates sophisticated theatrical lighting and sound systems, yet maintains the intimate feel of a smaller venu . The structure includes a balcony, full fly loft, extensive stage trap system, multi-stop stage lift, integrated orchestra enclosure, large shop and loading dock facilities. An adjacent studio theater seats 200 and contains administrative office space.
The JCM Group provided complete project and construction management services, commencing in schematic design. Through our cost estimating and value engineering efforts, the project was divided into two phases and built at significant savings. We also provided contract administration, contractor prequalification and multiple-bid package coordination. This project was financed through a combination of funds from the City of Irvine, University of California, Irvine and the private sector. Leading roles were played by a partnership of these civic, educational and development entities in an arrangement unique to this type of cultural endeavor. JCM successfully maintained strong working relationships with all major parties involved in the design and construction process.
