Built as a replacement for the 50+ year-old original, the new Fire Station incorporates three main building components: a 9,454 SF mechanics building, a 5,593 SF apparatus bay, and a 2-story, 12,957 SF administration and dormitory facility. The site also contains fuel storage and generator buildings, a fire hose tower and a concrete parking area.
In order to salvage the budget and incorporate design changes, The JCM Group was called in by the Culver City Redevelopment Agency to manage the construction phase of the project at 32% completion. We reviewed change order requests and minimized cost revisions to the contract, analyzed schedules, reported on construction progress, submitted monthly executive status reports, including detailed budget updates and acted as a liaison between the contractor and the City. By utilizing suggestions made during our reviews, the Fire Department was able to make decisions on functional changes in the design of their buildings. The JCM Group also coordinated the move from the old location into the new facility.
