The Northridge Earthquake took a tremendous toll on the campus, resulting in the need to replace all existing buildings within a 10-year time frame. The leadership of Saint John's recognized this as an opportunity to redefine its role in the community and its position in the marketplace. Saint John's selected The JCM Group to act as its development manager in order to achieve this new vision. In this capacity, The JCM Group assisted Saint John's in aggressively pursuing a variety of strategies designed to move them rapidly to the forefront of healthcare delivery in the 21st century.
The JCM Group worked closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors, the Foundation, committees, administrators, medical staff and outside consultants to translate key elements of Saint John's vision into viable, visionary solutions. The following issues were addressed under The JCM Group's direction:
-Future healthcare delivery trends
-Fund-raising opportunities
-Emerging healthcare delivery technologies
-Business planning
-OSHPD review and approval processes
-FEMA/OES cost recovery maximization
-Consultant selection and management
The JCM Group recommended the formation of a Technology Task Group charged with transforming Saint John's into a showcase for new technologies applied to the delivery of healthcare. Specifically, the task group identified and recruited a team of committed, executive-level individuals with the financial and intellectual resources to direct Saint John's overall technology strategy and to position the health center at the forefront of technology-assisted healthcare delivery systems.
The JCM Group also led Saint John's in an exploration and evaluation of future healthcare delivery trends through a variety of activities. For example, The JCM Group conducted a speaker's series and interviews with progressive medical staff and administrators and other healthcare organization representatives, as well as architects and planners in the field of healthcare. The JCM Group also identified and facilitated a tour of several facilities that have implemented "futuristic" medical delivery methods. Additionally, members of our staff were involved in speaking engagements at healthcare conferences to discuss and stimulate interest in Saint John's future in the healthcare industry.
As St. John's program and construction manager, The JCM Group is currently responsible for seeing that the visions identified in the planning process become reality within a framework of existing and future financial, regulatory and time constraints.
