Built on 10 acres, the Medical Plaza includes an outpatient care center, mental health center, medical office building, 2,900-car parking structure, central plant, site improvements and related infrastructure. Using a fast-track strategy with multiple phases and sequences, The JCM Group managed 4 separate design teams, more than 30 prime contractors and 4 distinct funding sources (including 2 public bond issues). The JCM Group's value engineering identified $14 million in cost reductions, which kept the final construction cost 5% below budget. The JCM Group's phasing and procurement strategies accelerated the original schedule by 18 months, which saved the University millions of dollars in cost escalation and interest on debt, and brought the Medical Plaza's substantial income-generating capacity on line early.
